Catheter Vents

Vyon® advanced composite materials contains a specially selected liquid swelling compound. By allowing gases to pass freely through the material, functionality of the device can be maintained but when exposed to liquid, the Vyon® composite will inherently shut-off and ensure user safety.

Suction Canister Filters

Suction Canister Filters (also known as Fluid Collection Vents) are a key safety mechanism within hospital vacuum suction systems. In this novel medical device, when collected surgical fluids reach critical levels, within the suction canister, our Vyon® self-sealing vents will shut-off and prevent unwanted fluid transmission.

We have leveraged the unique liquid-swelling properties of our Vyon® porous plastic to create a composite-based filter that acts as a vent that provides both optimal airflow and an effective seal for fluids contained within the suction canister.

Diagnostic Wicks

Delivering precise liquid transfer using capillary action, Vyon® advanced porous plastic work well within sample collection devices. Vyon® materials are ideal for wicking and fluid transfer applications as the media’s uniform porosity enables the controlled collection of a substance, such as urine or blood. By increasing the wettability of our standard Vyon®, we permanently modify the surface energy of the material allowing proper collection of the required sample.
